Turner’s Cycling and Fitness to Ride Off Into the Sunset on Saturday, June 8
Overland Park, Kan. – May 21, 2019 – After 60 seasons of doing business with the cycling community in Kansas City,
Turner’s Cycling and Fitness will officially close its doors on Saturday, June 8, 2019.
“It’s
been a great ride, but we’re ready to retire,” said owner Charley Puhr, III. “This is the only job I’ve
ever had, and I’m ready for what’s next.”
Puhr’s parents
founded Turner’s in 1960 in Mission, Kan., and the business grew into one of the largest Schwinn Bicycle dealers in
the Midwest. Puhr and his wife, Debbie, purchased the business from his parents in 1998. It is a true family business
in every sense of the word, with brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, cousins and in-laws, and sons and daughters all playing
a role – even today.
Charley Puhr emphasized how honored he
is to be a part of Turner’s for as far back as he can recall. “We can’t thank everyone enough for allowing
us to serve them for all of these years. We'll miss it for sure, but we’ll also enjoy sleeping in now. You just kind
of know when it’s time to call it a day. And it’s time.”
